Date Selection: the best days for your plans

Date Selection ranks every day in a range by how well it suits your plan, using the Panchangam and, if you add them, your birth details. It is the quick way to compare many dates at once before choosing an exact Muhurta.

How the ranking works

Each day is scored on the factors classical Muhurta texts consider: the Tithi, Nakshatra, weekday, Yoga and Karana, plus difficult periods such as Rahu Kalam. Each factor is weighted for the type of event, so a day that suits travel may score lower for a wedding.

Personal factors

When you add your birth details, the score also includes Tarabalam (the day's star counted from your birth star) and Chandrabalam (the Moon's transit from your Moon sign). Chandrashtama days are marked clearly.

From a good day to a good time

Date Selection tells you which days are best. Open any day to see its best time windows, or use Muhurtham for a detailed time search with the rising Lagna.

Listen to a day

Each day can be read aloud in plain language: what is favourable, what to avoid and the best window. This helps when you are sharing options with family.

Matching the day to the event

Classical Muhurta texts group Nakshatras by nature. Fixed (Dhruva) stars: Rohini and the three Uttaras: suit permanent beginnings such as marriage, foundation stones and moving into a new home. Movable (Chara) stars such as Swati, Punarvasu and Shravana suit travel and vehicles. Soft (Mridu) stars such as Mrigashira, Chitra, Anuradha and Revati suit learning, the arts and friendships. Sharp (Tikshna) stars are kept for decisive or difficult tasks. Date Selection applies these groups automatically for the event you pick, so a day that is excellent for buying a car may rank lower for a wedding.

Tithis and weekdays

The lunar day matters too. Nanda, Bhadra, Jaya, Rikta and Purna Tithis each favour different work, and Rikta Tithis (the 4th, 9th and 14th) are usually avoided for new beginnings. Amavasya is generally avoided for celebrations. Weekdays carry the nature of their ruling planet: Thursday (Jupiter) and Friday (Venus) are widely preferred for auspicious events, while Tuesday (Mars) and Saturday (Saturn) suit some practical tasks better than ceremonies.

A practical way to choose

Start with a wide range, note the five or six highest-ranked days that suit your venue and family, then open each one to compare its best time windows. If two days are close, prefer the one with a stronger Nakshatra for your event and no Chandrashtama for the main people involved. For weddings, confirm the final window with an astrologer using both charts.

Frequently asked questions

How is Date Selection different from Muhurtham?

Date Selection ranks whole days quickly; Muhurtham finds exact time windows within a day.

What does the score mean?

Higher scores mean more classical factors favour your event on that day. The reasons are listed for each day.

Do I need birth details?

No, but adding them includes Tarabalam and Chandrabalam and flags Chandrashtama days.

Can I search a whole year?

Yes, though shorter ranges are quicker to compare.

Which events are supported?

Weddings, house-warming, property purchase, travel, business starts, medical procedures (timing only), vehicle purchase and more.

Why is a festival day not ranked first?

A festival is auspicious for worship, but the Tithi or Nakshatra may not suit your specific event.

Does it use my city?

Yes. Sunrise and daily periods are calculated for the city you choose.

What is Chandrashtama?

The days when the Moon transits the 8th sign from your Moon sign; they are usually avoided for important starts.

Can I share the results?

Yes. Save the search or share the list of dates.

Can I listen to a day's summary?

Yes. Use Listen on any day to hear its summary.

How accurate is it?

It applies standard classical rules consistently. For major ceremonies, confirm the final window with an astrologer.

Is it free?

The basic ranking is free. Detailed personal searches may be part of a plan.
